AquaValor and Bio-Região distinguished in the “Mais a Norte” awards

The Water Technology Transfer and Valorization Center – AQUAVALOR and the Alto Tâmega and Barroso Bio-Region were distinguished at the “Mais a Norte” Awards gala, which took place this Monday, in Braga.

The initiative, promoted by the Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) in partnership with Jornal de Notícias, aims to recognize and value the best practices and projects that contribute to the development of this region and this year 232 applications were submitted by more than 200 institutions.

The Alto Tâmega and Barroso projects stood out, having been distinguished with honorable mentions among the 31 finalists of the first edition of these awards, being two of the 17 excellent projects awarded.

The Bio-Region project of Alto Tâmega and Barroso was one of the three finalists in the “Norte Ruris” category and the AquaValor project was one of the six finalists in the “Most Innovative North” category, that is, they came second in each of these categories.

“These distinctions reinforce the recognition of the work that has been carried out in the region, in favor of innovation, sustainability and the valorization of local resources”, highlights the Intermunicipal Community of Alto Tâmega and Barroso (CIMAT), in a statement.

Present at the ceremony at the Colunata de Eventos do Bom Jesus, in Braga, were Nuno Vaz, president of CIMAT, Ramiro Gonçalves, first executive secretary of the Intermunicipal Community and executive director of AquaValor, and Maria José Alves, executive director of AquaValor, representing the territory and the two distinguished projects.
